I live near Paris Mountain State Park. Because of the cool spring, I am surprised to see my first hummingbird of the year! Excited!!!

I put the feeder out about 10 days ago and had our first visitor on Wednesday. Love to watch them!

What a fantastic year for our hummingbirds. We’ve never had so many of them buzzing, diving and drinking the sweet nectar. We have two feeders that we can watch from our patio or our carport. Up to at least 9 of them juke and jive all day long. It has been a blast watching and listening to them. A couple of them are brave enough to hover within a few inches of our faces if we are perfectly still. Beautiful creatures!

We haven’t had that many . . . But about four or five. They move so fast, it’s hard to count! They are really fun to watch.

The Hummingbird Festival is this week in Charlotte. We went last year and it was a single site. It’s kind of small but cute and we learned some interesting things. Sounds like they’ve expanded.

I was at my parents' house in Simpsonville last weekend and their hummingbird feeder had three of them buzzing around!

Do hummingbirds take nectar back to the nest to feed their young?

Their nests are tiny — almost like half of a golf ball. They had some at the festival. Very difficult to see in a tree.

We just had a couple show up for the first time this season. We had none last year.
