Before Allegiant only flew to Sanford Airport in Orlando. Now they will be flying to the main airport instead beginning February 8, 2010: Dec. 1, 2009: ALLEGIANT AIR ANNOUNCES NEW BASE AT ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Airline to Offer Nonstop Service between 10 U.S. Cities and Orlando International<br />Introductory Fares as Low as $45.99* One-way | Airfare & Hotel Packages from Allegi (http://www.allegiantair.com/aaNews/aaNews20091201a.php - broken link)

This is excellent news. I flew into Orlando Sanford International this past summer on Allegiant, and was not impressed by the airport or its location outside of Orlando. Orlando International will be much better.

Has anyone said if the new MCO (Orlando International) flights will replace, or add to, the existing SFD (Sanford) flights?

They will replace them which is a good thing. Sanford is a joke of an airport and is located far outside of the city and tourist destinations. Orlando International is right in the heart of everything.

This would be good news if they flew to Orlando more than 3 days a week. Mon., Wed., and Sat. are the only days you can fly from GSP to MCO. The departure is afternoon so you waste a day and the return flight is early morning so you will waste another day. I think I will stick with Delta.

The huge savings that you can have is worth the times of flights in my opinion. My folks fly from Tampa to gville and have flown as cheap as $29.00 one way.

Allegiant's flight frequencies vary by season. During peak summer months, we had daily or near-daily service on Orlando and Ft Lauderdale routes this year.

This is pretty exciting news! I read this forum as a potential relocator, but my current home airport, GRR, is on the list. We fly to MCO a couple times each year, and our home airport is, like GSP, one of the most expensive around. Kind of a double win for us

Good news. I was in Orlando over Thanksgiving weekend on business and my company flew me from GSP to CLT to MCO. Can't wait for a non stop right into MCO. Thanks for the good news, G-man.

I live in Orlando and Sanford is about 20 or so miles north of Orlando. Flying into OIA is a mess. People are everywhere, way over-crowded, and it's chaotic! People like me who live in Orlando and fly to GSP a few times a year are SOOOOOO glad that OIA isnt our only option.
