This seems like a very strange question. Why would you even be worried about how much grief to expect, or how to express it? Honestly I’ve never read such a question. People grieve how they need to grieve. And everybody grieves differently. I’m sorry for the impending loss of your mother… But stop worrying about the proper way to grieve. There is no proper way. You do what you need to do. Don’t worry about anyone else.
