Does anyone have a Taurus Judge? If so please tell me how you like it? I am
thinking about it for CCW carry. Having one or two loaded with the 410 round
and the others with the .45, The idea of the Judge sounds good, But I have
never fired one before.

Thanks The Jeep

I think it sounds like it's pretty big for ccw but I don't know... I think for house defense it's a great idea.

In fact, we'll have one in the next few weeks.

We too are looking for CCW pistols. kim du toit has a great forum with a thread dedicated to favorite ccw pistols, and if you google the keywords you'll find a ton of info.

Hubby's interested in the springfield XD something-or-other. I'm leaning toward the Glock 36 since I'm already a fan of the glock product.

Of course it's irrelevant here in NJ but we're getting our FL nonresident carry permits soon and they're reciprocal in 30-something states.

If you are looking for a good concealed carry weapon, I would recommend the CZ-82. A very sturdy semi-auto that shoots the 9x18 Makarov cartridge, 12 round mag capacity. Fun and easy to shoot and probably one of the most accurate pistols I've fired.

Okay, I've looked into the Springfield XD's and I'm converted. They're a lot like what I like about a glock, but they also have a grip safety which solves my only concern about the glock (i.e. what if it's in my purse and something pulls the trigger. I also bought a safe-t-blok which snaps in behind the trigger to keep it from being pulled. When you want to use the gun, it just pops out with your trigger finger when you're ready to shoot.)

the Springfield XD is a polymer pistol, like the glock, right around the same price range as I was looking as well. They come in a 3", 4" or 5" barrel length. We're looking at the 3" in .45 ACP or 9mm since we already have guns in .45 and 9mm so we don't want to keep getting different cartridges.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like the judge is good for the home or car, But a bit big for conceal carry. Maybe I'll look into a .357 and load the first two with bird shot.

I have a stainless featherlite Judge. It is an excellent choice to carry as a sidearm in the back country.

I don't know why you would want to put birdshot in any revolver you are going to use to defend yourself. The rifling in the barrel really screws up the shot pattern, it basically just sprays out in all directions. I could see innocent bystanders getting hit by stray pellets, and being totally ineffective against an attacker.
The only thing these revolver shotgun shells are any good for is to kill a snake in your backyard.
If you are trying NOT to kill someone with your ccw, then you are not mentally prepared for the consequences of carrying one. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but i have trained a lot of people in combat handgun classes.

Get youself a revolver in decent caliber- 38special, 357, even the new .327 federal. Practice, practice under pressure, and you must be mentally prepared to kill someone if you are going to carry a gun.

If not then buy yourself a can of mace.
