I've been thinking of buying a reloader for a long time. 30/06 can get pretty expensive as does 30/40, 303 and 8mm. Besides from what I have heard it a great hobby.
i've been reloading for 28 years, it not only saves money but adds to the fun.
[quote=mrs1885;6018024]In light of our new president's extreme dislike for weapons and the possibilities we may be facing, I want to stock up on ammo. I'm buying a full size safe that I'm having installed in my walk in closet in the master bedroom. I'd like to fully stock it with ammo.................... just in case.
So, does anyone have any suggestions on where to get the best prices?
If you have a Bass Pro Shop or Sportsman warehouse you can get good prices, Wal Mart is fair too, depending where you live you can buy on-line but check with the shipping, a hazardous material fee would offset any good deal.
Try the Cheaper than Dirt catalog, pick up a copy of Shotgun News at a newstand, you will find other ads. In Eastern Washington if you can get to Spokane, White Elephant has good prices on all sorts of outdoor gear.
Gun shows sometimes have some bargains.
I have been reloading/handloading for a while, it's a great hobby and you can tailor your load to your weapon, your target, etc. But it's a pretty serious technology in it's own right. To get started loading, I really like Lee's presses for centerfires, and the Lee or MEC shotshell loaders. But I'm marginally off-topic already...
Cheaper than Dirt is good but you have freight and some states they do not even ship certain cal. but for FMJ or HP's you cannot hardly beat Wal-Mart's 100pk. on .380,9mm,.40,or .45 in Winchester's white box or Remington's UMC loads just stay away from Gander Mtn.,Bass Pro etc. at independent gun stores you'll get the best deal on .223 but "00" buck is about the same anywhere.

We have Bass Pro Shop and Sportsman's Warehouse here, and I enjoy going there. I went to a small gun store, and they said they anticipate a shortage of ammunition, and reloading components, especially primers and powders, because of the agenda Obama and his anti-gun cohorts have in mind. Nancy Pelosi already said that she has a stack of "gun bills" on her desk..
Instead of doing what the majority of the American people expect them to do, and address the critical issues that are facing our nation now, they want to go after decent law-abiding gun owners..
They'll have a good fight on their hand from the NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners Of America, and many others, including our pro-gun friends in Washington.
$5 off a box of core-lokt (we buy it in .308) and $2 off per box of shot shells (danged if I can remember which but they're just standard shells). I believe limit of $10 off per household on the core-lokt and there was actually a minimum for the shotshells (10 boxes maybe?) but it's $2 off per box.
Dicks had the shot shells 2 weeks ago on sale for 3.99 which made the shells 1.99 a box. Not bad...

aimsurplus.com is my favorite, along with midwayusa.com and also grafs.com Grafs isn't the cheapest all the time but I like their shipping policy. .22lr and shotgun ammo is best bought locally. Walmart is usually cheap, especially around hunting seasons.
Don't use wolf .45acp. I've seen reports the charges were uneven, even leading to some damage, at various gun boards. I'll use wolf in Russian guns (mosin nagant, SKS), that's it.

Cheaperthandirt is price gouging. They raised their price on 7.62X39 wolf cases of 1,000 from a little over $200 to $500+ overnight after the election.

They also gouged their AR15 mag prices from ~$12 each to almost $50.
Screw them. There are plenty other companies to do business with that wont rake you over the coals.
Try AIMSurplus.
