It's not technically an M-4, so do you simply call it a short AR-15?

I've seen those in some stores, and I believe it's called the AR-15 Carbine.

Add one more grain of sand to the mountain of them known as "the reasons I'm glad I left California." Nobody should be deprived of their Constitutional rights just because something LOOKS scary.

One is permitted to actually exercise their 2nd Amendment rights here in Nevada, with few restrictions. Yet for some reason, people aren't being shot in every neighborhood every day...

It is simply a shorter range version of the noted standard mil-spec model that is used in close quarters urban enviroments such as raids and structure clearing missions, otherwise a specialty carbine whether it's a 16" or a 24" a 5.56mm or a 6.8mm it is still todays quick threat eliminator!

If it does not have the M4 profiled barrel it is a CAR-15. This was the standard issue carbine issued to the U.S. military prior to the M4.

The AR 15 sold to the public is not an automatic weapon unless it has been modified, so is not considered an assult weapon.

Unfortunately, states like California and New Jersey have classified, legal semi-automatic sporting arms like the AR-15 to be considered "assault weapons" and have banned them.

WRONG They are NOT ASSAULT WEAPONS. Anything with a barrel 16.5 inches long is legal, less then that and you need to register it as an SBR (short barreled rifle)
