Russian SKS's are the best of the breed and command a premium. I have two that I bought in the mid 90's for around $100 each. Today they are over $300 and climbing.

Wink Dragunovs and more!

(Here's a tissue, NVP...) Re: the long-lost Dragunovs, IMO, I think a good M1 or M14 from Springfield Armories, esp. the Carlos Hathcock model (makes me whimper...), will always outshoot the 7.62 X 54 "Dragon",. It, though good, is a bit of an urban legend wouldn't you agree? Plus you can always get (or make...) fabulously accurate 30-06 or .308 ammo, right?

And a SOCOM model from SA looks sorta like a nice grampa's hunting rifle. which, of course, it is. Right?

I got a decent one at around the turn of the century but I sold it.
I built an ak-47 from a parts kit and I've got another two kits left though. Glad I got those parts kits they are drying up fast.

LMAO Rifleman...My M1A National match will always sit at the throne room in my cabinet. The Dragunov could NEVER be an M1A! My Dad had a Garand National Match when I was a kid and he was shooting for the Navy. OH what a rifle! My heart will always belong to US hardware when it's time to cut paper (or anything else) at distances at the 200 yard mark and beyond. Still it is difficult not to lament the loss of those East Bloc surplus rifles of Russian make to bogus legislation. My son has a DPMS LR .308 thats a good rifle to. I woulda never thunk that anyone could make an AR type platform shoot that well. My Dad was of the opinion that the AR/M-16 family should have been scrapped. lol if he could only see what they are doing now...nah he STILL would have hated them. I wouldn't trade my SA for one either. I'm a Walnut and steel fan to. Long live the War Horses!!
