I've been dealing with terrible dandruff for the past year and nothing seems to work

I've tried

1. head and shoulders
2. Selsum blue
3. Dr bronners tea tree
4. Neutrogena t-gel

NOTHING works =(

It's got to the point where small chunks of dry skin are falling off my head when i brush it.

Nothing will ever work completely. Wash hair often. Brush well daily. Learn to live with it.

The chanced are that you have a very oily scalp. What you see is NOT dead skin, but dried flakes of oil. The more things that you put on it, the more your body will fight back by producing more.

You hair needs oil. It's nature's way.

It could be something else. Do you leave the shampoo on to soak?

I would try a NEEM based shampoo and conditioner.
Rinse your hair with sea salt water (it helps with all the skin problems and aids in clean rinsing)

Do you use any products on your hair?
What about your pillowcases/hats? Do you clean them with products with fragrances or harsh products?

You do not need to learn to live with it. And if you have not had a skin cancer screening go and get one. It can happen on the scalp. Also it could be a cause of allergies or psoriasis or fungal or just dry skin. A good neem shampoo will take care of all that except the cancer check/fix of course.

If you can find it, Tegrin is very good. They used to make a shampoo, and a cream to apply afterward.

This is kind of what I was thinking...

I always suggest organic coconut oil in hair/skin threads, and here I will do the same!

Mr.monday- I think you should consider working some coconut oil into your scalp, possibly leaving it on overnight, or for at least for several hours before shampooing. It is extremely helpful in moisturizing both skin and hair.

It sounds like your scalp is possibly overdried by chemicals...

I would go to a dermatologist if I were you. They can also examine your scalp to determine what exactly is causing the symptoms you're having.

I had a bad case of athlete's foot that I could not get rid of with any OTC creams. The dermatologist gave me a prescription strength cream that got rid of it without problems.

You are a guy, right? Shave your head. Bald is in.

Otherwise, try seeing a dermatologist. Enough is enough.

Apple cider vinegar rinse. I use it when my scalp is itchy/has dandruff and to make my hair shiny. Google it. It is natural, and very cheap so if it doesn't work there won't be any disappointment.
