I've just started using Aveeno Fresh Greens shampoo and conditioner for volume and thickness and I love it. It leaves my hair shiny and tangle-free.
It's also affordable. I don't use much and many times I rinse with lemon juice and wash with plain lukewarm water as my stylist has recommended to keep from developing build-up on my hair.

I try my best to use natural, non-toxic hair products.
Many of them you can catch for a very reasonable price in discount stores like Marshalls, Tjmax or Tuesday Morning.
My favorite are JVN hair products. They contain hemisqualane and lots of herbal stuff that is really nutritious and leaves hair soft, silky and frizz free.
Interesting, but I have been using it for over 20 years, no problems at all, and my barber always comments on what a great head of hair I have.
I do see a huge difference. This is an interesting thread. I will stay tuned
I was using Living Proof for a long time. It would keep my hair clean for four days. After about eight months to a year I always find my hair needs a change.
Lately--it is no drugstore shampoo: Oribe. Pricey. Nordstrom sent me a sample--hook, line and sinker! Hair stays clean for four days, the shine, no frizz.
I like Oribe's dry texturizing spray. I didn't know they made shampoos! I'll have to check that out. Their products are very pricey but it seems pretty good so far.

I forgot about the lemon juice. I used to squeeze a lemon into a bottle of shampoo and it would make my hair shiny. I probably shouldn't do that now though because back then I forgot that lemon juice is perishable lol
That is only certain Suave hair products, they don't all contain that ingredient. I've used Suave Professionals for years, love it but it does have sulfates. Now they no longer sell my shampoo/conditioner because of that lawsuit (which ingredient is in other products by other manufacturers too). Some people have had an allergic reaction on the scalp which could result in some hair loss, but that can happen with any hair product ingredient. I never had an issue with it.
I have respiratory reactions to a lot of cosmetic products because they put so much fragrance in it. The Suave shampoo and conditioner I used had a very mild coconut scent that didn't stick around after rinsing. The other Suave hair products are stronger smelling and those I tried do not work the same on my hair.
I still have some of my old stuff left over but now I'm stuck as I just can't use many shampoos because of their toxic fragrances and/or my hair doesn't like them.
My second shampoo is Maui Moisture sulfate free for dry hair, but as usual, the scent is a bit too strong.
Tamajane, Herbal Essence makes a really mild coconut scented shampoo and conditioner. Comes in a black bottle and says Coconut Milk, from their botanicals line. I find it very mild and it leaves my hair soft. If scents bother you this one doesn't stick around either. Maybe you'd like it!
I was told that cheap(er) shampoos are full of wax and other filler ingredients that build up on your hair over time. Can be especially detrimental if you color your hair. I buy a liter of "good" stuff like redken and I find I only need a dime size amount to get my hair clean so the bottle lasts several months. But honestly, I don't notice a huge difference on very fine, straight hair.
Aveeno, Pantene or Herbal Essence are decent shampoos. I recently tried Raw Sugar shampoo and my scalp itched and burned after every application. At first I thought the burning might be from a scalp sunburn or maybe not rinsing enough. Anyway, these shampoos don’t replace Moroccan Oil or Sebastian, but it’s nice to have dependable shampoos from Walgreens. Definitely not Raw Sugar, and it’s too bad I tossed the receipt, but a reaction like this is a first. Be careful what you buy.
