And here I am still trying to convince my wife that her hair would look great if she let the grey grow out and she doesn't need to spend 30 or more minutes every morning taking the waves out. You would think I would learn my lesson after 31 years, but...
Ahhh. It’s such a personal choice though! Maybe eventually she’ll go that way. It’s definitely easier!
I don't know, to ME it always looks like unkempt hair. I bit too messy for my style - I like my hairdo to be more defined. But l might be little too particular about my tidy look, l think.
I fear that frizz might get worse with perm. I don't have any perm, but live in very humid climate.
For me it helps to use little bit of oil. It's great to hydrate permed and gray hair too. I use argan hair oil and leave it in my hair.
Generally, permed hair is very thirsty hair. After a perm you should include a shampoo and conditioner intended to give your hair a lot of moisture.
And, gray hair often gets a yellowish shade after per - remember to talk to your stylist if you're trying to avoid that.
Oh yes, when my hair was colored and permed I took ultra care of my hair. Always the best products, lots of conditioner back before "oil" was a thing like nowadays. I've got the argan oil and the black walnut oil. My dermatologist told me to use the oil very sparingly because used on the scalp it can actually cause seborrhea to get worse. Mine started several months ago; I was told that it was due to "fluctuating hormones." Whatever. All I know is that I'm not an unclean person by any stretch, and that's what it felt like. I had to ditch all my Biotin and other shampoos in favor of Ketoconazole which I get by prescription at the pharmacy. It's cured 95-98% of the seborrhea, for which I'm thankful. That's another issue: whether perming will affect the scalp, since I never had seborrhea until 25 years after my last perm.
Thanks for the tips. I can't use anything mint, for some reason it makes my hair fall out but the Argan 7 looks good. I have some silicone stuff that I use very sparingly on the top layer of my hair. I keep a small bottle in the car in case it starts raining when I'm in the city.
As for yellowing, I'm concerned about that. I already have yellowing on the left side (driver's side window). There are supposedly natural remedies for that (baking soda, lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide).
The oil supposed to be put only (very lightly) on the hair, not touching scalp. Like 2-3 little drops on your palm, spread - no more.
As for the yellowing. There are blue shampoos and rinses that keep grey/white hair from yellowing.

Blue and purple shampoos only turned my hair blue and purple. Tried so many of them... gave up.
Too much? Wrong brand? Left too long on the hair? Cheaper ones might use cheap dyes. Blue shampoos are designed to counteract orange tones in brunette hair, while purple shampoos are used to banish brass in blonde hair.
Probably the best to consult beautician.
