I was wondering, based on the observations of many street signs in Virginia Beach, and it seems that most of them abbreviate "Lane" as "LA" instead of "LN" like most cities do. Is there any particular reason for this?

Are you sure it wasn't Landing and not Lane?

Nope, Landing is either LNDG, or is simply spelled out. When I lived in VB, ocassionally I have seen a few streets that [erroneously by VB standards] used LN on one sign but used LA on another. However, most of the time when I was there, most signs abbreviated Lane as LA.

It can be either one.

You know I never understood why the street sign says "La" but sometimes it is "Ln"
