Just wanted to give a 2 month update after our move from St Louis. Overall we are very happy with the move, we both like our jobs, the commutes are manageable, schools and daycare are good, we feel safe, we have plenty to do, and we intend to make this our home for the foreseeable future.

Our favorite things about VB and Kempsville in particular are:

- Great parks and rec centers
- Easy access to the beach with lots of different options
- Kempsville has everything we need on a daily basis and is about a 15 minute drive or less to VB Town Center, Downtown Norfolk, and Greenbrier
- We are very happy with our oldest childs experience at elementary school (even though it was only about 6 weeks)
- Seems like there is a festival every weekend either at the beach, town center or town point park
- Feel perfectly comfortable as a mixed-race couple with multiracial kids, it has been a non issue
- Impressed with all of the development going on (Arena, Ikea, new Kempsville rec center, outlet mall, top golf, potential light rail extension)
- Surprising amount of good places to eat tucked away in strip malls and little hideaways

There are of course some negatives:

- Traffic has definitely kicked up in the summer
- I do miss having the Cardinals games to go to although the tides are fun and a whole lot cheaper
- Amenities are a bit spread out.
- Definitely not the best drivers. Too much tailgating and speeding in residential areas.

But like I said at the beginning, overall we are very happy with the area and our move.

Good to hear. We live in Kempsville too, in Fairfield. The Providence Road corridor is really nice in Kempsville, and as you said, you are close to everything. Good luck!

We really like that Fairfield neighborhood, if we look to buy a house in the future it will definitely be on our short list.

It is a huge neighborhood, with a few condos and townhouse and several hundred homes. We back up to wetlands and are on a cul-de-sac. Very quiet. $300k +
