My husband and I are possibly moving to Williamsburg after he retires. Are there any areas that are NOT safe?

We have lived here 20+ years and feel extremely safe. If you look at our overall crime rate, it is much lower than most other areas.

Keep in mind that Williamsburg is an independent city in VA and not part of James City County or York County.

To the last poster I don’t think many people realize the city limits of Williamsburg most of the surrounding area of James City County and York county has a Williamsburg mailing address. But we are actually in James City County.

That's always a bit confusing to new comers. Williamsburg is actually a small city. I have family in James City County, but the address is Williamsburg.
