I've just noticed a few cheaper apartments in this vicinity and didn't know if it's a sketchy area?

It is right outside of the Oceanfront. That area near Baltic Ave is one of the most active crime areas of Virginia Beach.

It's pretty grimy.. The (nearby) Colony trailer park isn't really dangerous, but it is dilapidated. And there are a lot of homeless concentrated in that area because there's a prominent shelter close (near Birdneck & 17th). Lots of other transient traffic too, because of tourists always walking & driving thru (close to the convention center).

But on the plus side, it's close to the water and a lot of things to do, restaurants, etc.
