Hi all!
My fiancé and me recently got accepted to William&Mary grad school and now looking for an apartment not far away from the campus, but not too expensive. Our price range is about $750 for 1BR(no studio, though), maybe 2BR for the same price, I've seen these.
I looked up several communities withing 3.5 miles from campus to take bikes to school, but most of them have opposite reviews. Also, I heard there is an option of a duplex for the same price. Is this true?
Would anyone recommend a community for us?

Another question is about utilities: is it common to have gas heat and gas stove? What is an average utility cost in the city?

Thank you!!

I reccomend Peppertree apartments for that price range/location. They are on the corner of 199 and Jamestown Road across from the green 7-11. They are actually condos so you have to call a property management place to get a lease (Berkeley Property Management and Williamsburg Property Management are the two main providers) But almost 100% is rentals. Its mainly college students as well. 2br 1Bba for 700/mo

Peppertree also includes water/sewage/trash in the rent, so all you pay is Electrical and any phone/tv/internet you want.

As far as gas heat and cooking im not sure of any apartments in the area that offer that, but that was never a item that i looked for.

Thank you!! We definitely will call them asap, it seems like a perfect price and location! Just about 1.5 miles from the Department, wow! ^_^

Well, we're looking for gas because it's supposedly cheaper, but in average, how big was your electricity bill? If I may ask

You should also check out the Student Information Network at William and Mary for other off campus housing options.
