I've lived in VB for about thirty years and am considering moving to Suffolk. Does anyone know any "Pros or cons". Just looking for a small house with up to 1 acre of land. Yearning for peace and quiet.

The pros are many.. yes it can be quiet and your money will probably go farther in Suffolk. The con may be that things like the grocery store and restaurants may be 10-15 min away. Another good thing... you are more centrally located in Suffolk - I am referring to the RT 17 corridor mostly. You are close to the Peninsula and the rest of Southside. Va Beach can feel remote if you want to get to Norfolk or Newport News.

I really like Suffolk and Isle of Wight for it's general lack of crime and quietness.

For me a big issue is the cable company. I'm able to get business level service from Cox that allows me to host some low traffic servers. Charter likely does not offer the same grade of services. If it wasn't for the city stepping in and threatening to not renew their charter they probably wouldn't have cablemodems. Cox is going to a higher speed system later this year, I doubt Suffolk will follow.

internet service would be important for me too. Not necessarily for TV. I wonder if I just get the (Sprint) internet plug-in that workds so well with my cell phone? I think it sells for about the same as Cox internet service and I could carry it along on my trips.
I do long for quiet and although I'm a veteran I get tired of the jet noise.

We use Dirctv and use Verizon high speed for internet. We have had no problems. We live in Northern Suffolk.

How do you find the property values in N. Suffolk? I'm actually looking to be rid of the taxation and jet noise here in VB. Maybe looking for something 1 story with at least a half acre. Am also trying to rid myself of the restrictions in VB for what you do on your own property. I'd like to have more than 3 animals, etc.
