best supermarket brands in hawaii (Hilo: appointed, vs, stores)

Best foods, selections, Poke, other items, checkout service, bagging material, etc

Went to a Foodland on Kauai recently and came back a bit disappointed, items were breaking apart and spilling everywhere the very thin handleless paper bag disintegrated quickly with the spills. The cashier didn't really know what she was doing and constantly made mistakes.

Been looking for one of those common 2 liter mineral or distilled water with dispensor.

I be curious what other choices on island of Kauai or all the islands for that matter?

Is the Safeway pretty comparable to that of the mainland? Please note I don't really like the current Safeway as a question just asking whether they can more easily offer what I need.

Doesn't necessary have to be a "supermarket" though grocery store is ok.

I agree with Flamingo13, asking in the Hawaii forum will yield the best answers.

As any FYI, even on the same island like Hawaii (Big Island), two same stores may have different results on the Kona side vs the Hilo side. he ck, what available in quality, quantity, or variety may also change from week to week. As for a chain like Safeway, Hawaii is over 2,000 miles from mainland CA, so you should not expect it to be the same. It may have many similar items and even look somewhat the same, but don't expect it to be the same as strolling into the Safeway in San Diego.
