Not odd to not want to read the book. I've lived with over 60 yrs of back issues and what can I learn about backs now? We all think differently and is that odd?

I think it would be a good read IF someone was just starting out with back issues.

No I didn't CURE my Degenerative Disc Disease and Millions live with this degeneration. I walk pretty well now in spite of the knee issue but never a back surgery and can't imagine going there. Aging is not for sissies.

After hip replacement I had a couple MRI's and low and behold Scoliosis showed up. Wonder of wonders..when things are shifted, things can change a lot.

Good to hear that. My daughter 53 is doing yoga a couple times a week and already her posture is showing the yoga work.

For me, I truly believe I got more screw** up after hip replacement.

Everybody is different. I tried yoga and wound up in so much pain from the bending positions that I couldn't move for two days. Bending is the biggest trigger for my back pain.

Yes, everyone different, my daughter doesn't have back issues for the most part. She has a fallen tendon in foot and doing all to walk good and stay away from surgery. Her D.O. suggested yoga and her 20 yr old daughter is happy her mother is doing this...sometimes they go together.

Never did a back surgery.

Yesterday on NPR there was a segment that back surgeries are the MOST repeated surgeries out there. I've heard stories about 3-9 repeated surgeries on the back.

Here's the book, I'm not going to read it as I could write my own, but I'm sure I'd agree with all that is written.

Same thing you said about Pandora's Lab written by Paul Offitt, MD on another thread here...

You were going to recommend it to ALL your friends without reading it until I pointed out that Offitt is one of the foremost critics in the country regarding Vitamins and "supps".....THEN you changed your tune

Maybe for future reference, you shouldn't "recommend" books you haven't actually read making assumptions about what is contained therein ????

Just a skosh into Do You Believe in Magic? Assuming what is written is true, it is very interesting.

This is true and the type of surgery and what is being done will determine the outcome.

I had a laminectomy/discectomy in 2005. I was back at work in two weeks and have had no significant problems since. Yes, I will always have back problems and last year the pain was bad enough to seek out help. I did PT for six weeks and still can do those exercises at home to help alleviate some pain.

Thank God for medical science and practice. I can't imagine living in that kind of pain for any more years than I have to.
