Because some people close to me have had angina, would like to pick the brain of the men on the forum. From my research, it does state that angina can pretty much be anywhere in the body, not just the heart area. I sometimes care for patients who I realized later were having angina in other areas of their body. But didn't realize until after the fact. If I had been educated in angina, we could have let their doctor know to see if he/she wanted the patient to go to hospital, etc.
To the men: Have you ever had angina pain in your back? Did a doctor verify that it was indeed angina pain? If you had a nitroglycerin prescription, did you use your nitro for the pain? I'd like to hear any comments you have about your own experience with angina in your back, or elsewhere. It's frustrating because cardiac doctors often don't prepare their cardiac patients for things like angina and what to do. I sometimes care for patients who I realized were having angina in other areas of their body. But didn't realize until after the fact. That was a real eye opener.
What would you want other men to know about angina pain? Please share your comments because education is sorely needed. Sometimes patient information that is shared with others is almost more important than any comment a doctor could make. It could save a life.
