I skipped past the 80's (curtains, pictures, vertical blinds, lighting)

Looking at houses for sale I saw some built in the 80's. That got me thinking. What were the furniture and decor styles that defined the 80's? I could not come up with a single thing. So what were the good styles that marked that period? Or was it just a hodge-podge of things?
Pastels, ruffles, cutesy country stuff. Pine. The first inklings of "shabby chic." Geese, ducks, bows, garlands, fake plants in baskets. "Country curtains." Quilts hung on walls or used as table cloths (guilty as charged).
OR - pastels but this time in southwest style.
OR - pastels but in a Miami Vice sort of style.
But always pastels.
Blech. One of the worst decades style wise in my opinion.
The 80's is my most favorite decade for music, but when it comes to decor-ugh. The worst. Those horrid country knick knacks. And I love pastels, but it was just overboard in the 80's. I remember mauve carpet paired with furniture upholstered in blue fabric. It was the decade of excess and like everything else, people went overboard with the country decor. One or two pieces of the stuff would have probably been fine, but I remember going into lots of friends' houses with geese all over the place or frilly stuff in the living room. Too much of it.
But I have to be honest. I'm a huge Golden Girls fan and I loved that big kitchen.
