I gave up on house plants years ago. I'd buy them and they'd commit suicide in the back seat of my car on the way home.

In fact, if I wander through the outdoor nursery at Lowes, I can hear them whimpering in fear I'll buy one. Plants are smarter than you realize.....they know when their demise is near.

I have a black belt in Black Thumb.

5 plants at the moment. 6, if you count the Vidalia onion in the bowl on my counter. It's starting to sprout. It's technically an indoor plant at the moment.

I have a plant hanging in each of my windows in the whole entire apartment and one on the window ledge as well.
I love them and plants do really well in my home as it is the top floor and big windows and full sun until ate in the afternoon. I enjoy taking care of them and they give me so much joy

There's just one. A Ficus I almost killed by setting it outside to get some sun. It wilted down to a nub and fought its way back. It's about 20 inches tall now and sprouting new growth so I guess it'll be ok. Now that I've learned how to care for it. I think I'll get more.

A handful of tillandsia mounted under urchin shells in the shower windows, inside this Florida house. Outside, all bets are off... I have around 40 different species of orchids, many of which were brought down from Colorado (where they were inside of course) 6 years ago.

I have 17, different varieties. A couple have gone out on the desk as will the rest when the weather is consistently warm enough.

3 indoor houseplants, but about 15 potted succulents that live outside all year.

I have never had much luck with ficus, unfortunately, because i think it's a beautiful tree. It would grow pretty well and then start to drop the bottom leaves en masse.

a ficus tree / plant can be rooted and a new one started. I have one in my office and have cut several pieces of it and rooted them for some of my co-workers and have given them out. They don't take much time to root and the they are ready for the dirt.
