Just ballparking it, how much would it cost to install a new washer/dryer hookup on the 2nd floor of a house in a room adjacent to a main bathroom?
With the exception of the vent pipe changes that both code and the mechanics may require...
and getting the gas pipe or 240V wire up there...
and putting in the floor drain under the washer...
Less than $100 for even the best of materials
and about an hour on site to open the wall and rough-in the new water pipes, faucet and drain fittings.
Another couple of hours to close up and refinish the wall.
... the dryer vent, drywall repair (especially if you have to go to a basement or from one end of the house to the other), Copper/PVC/CPVC, hookup box, change door(s) to room to at least a 2/8 if standard appliances, and all the other miscellaneous crap that gets broke, damaged, etc.

As I stated in the original post, the room is adjacent to the main plumbing so all we have to do is pop through the wall and connect to plumbing.

Just to be sure...
--> use 2" pipe throughout to meet the demand of a washer?
--> tie-in and maybe increase the vent pipe?
--> run the 240V electric wire or gas pipe for the dryer?
--> dryer vent duct and dampered to exterior?
--> repair the drywall?
--> install a floor pan for when the washer overflows?
--> connected that floor pan to a drain?
--> pull a permit and have the work inspected?

NO, WE DIDN'T THINK OF THIS. WAS THINKING WE WOULD JUST CONNECT THE DRAIN HOSE TO BATHROOM DRAIN PIPING BUT THIS IS A GOOD POINT. WE WILL ASK ABOUT ADDING THIS TO PROJECT
--> connected that floor pan to a drain? SEE ABOVE

YES- PERMIT IS $50 AND WE ARE ALSO HAVING A FENCE INSTALLED AND HARDWOOD FLOORING SO THE COST FOR PERMIT AND MOBILIZATION IS SHARED BETWEEN ALL THREE PROJECTS SO IS MINIMAL
While it is pretty easy to bust out the drywall and add on supply and waste connections for the washer, it's probably not going to be as easy to :
1. bring electrical 30amp/240V circuit or gas for the dryer connection.
2. Install a drain for a floor pan and route it to the exterior
3. Vent the dryer to the exterior.
If the new laundry area is on an exterior wall, then the drain and dryer vent will be pretty easy.
Depending on where the electrical panel is located, the difficulty and cost of running the wire could raise the installation price up a fair amount.
