My house came equipped with a Linear Garage Door Operator. I also added a MDTK Keypad to it a few years ago.

Well, today I had to have another operator installed. This one is Odyssey 1000 Chain operator.

Can anyone tell me if there are any universal type remotes or other accessories that will work with it? Ideally, I'd like to know if the old keypad can be paired with the new operator. But I still would need an additional remote.

Thanks.

I would think so. Cars that have the built-in openers and universal (replacement ones) garage door openers are brand agnostic, so I don't see why not.

Give it a try

http://www.linearcorp.com/pdf/manuals/MDTK.pdf

Look at the section for progrmaming the operator. What you have to do is have the new operator learn the MDTK keypad.

Thanks for the replies.

sj- I saw and downloaded the manual but noticed the MDTK says "RF Frequency: 318 MHz" but the new operator mentions "315 or the 390 MHz frequency". So, I don't know if I tried to "pair" the old keypad with the new operator if maybe it would wipe out the remote codes and the Homelink on my wife's van. Basically I don't want to screw something up.

I was just hoping for confirmation from someone who has some experience to set me straight.

Lots of newer garage openers have code hopping technology and some older remotes dont have that capability as they are a single set frequency channel that's programmed by choosing a number setting or pin setting.
So your old remote simply may just not be compatible. In some cases you can get a module added on but it's cheaper to get a keypad that's compatible
