so our offer has been accepted and we have been reviewing the deed restrictions and it seems that making a fence would be hard and requires approval-our backyard is open to the inner development road and we have been told our best option would be to plant privacy trees....
so which trees can we plant? ive been looking online and cannot figure out if it should be willow or leyland or other type?
we are looking for something that will give as immediate privacy as possible, 6 ft taller or more and grows fast!
Any suggested plants could vary based on your location. Arbor vitae may be a good option for you. I also always liked sky pencils but I could never get one to live at my place in Virginia.
While trees may seem to provide some noise mitigation, it's not really true (have seen the results of noise studies that prove this). It's more of a psychological thing. (See: https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment...n/keepdown.cfm

Vegetation, if it is high enough, wide enough, and dense enough that it cannot be seen over or through, can decrease highway traffic noise. A wide strip of trees with very thick undergrowth can lower noise levels. 30 meters of dense vegetation can reduce noise by five decibels. However, it is not feasible to plant enough trees and other vegetation along a highway to achieve such a reduction. Trees and other vegetation can be planted for psychological relief but not to physically lessen noise levels.
And if you are concerned about visibility, you should be able to ask your local engineering division/office to check your plan to see that you meet the required offsets for intersection sight distances.
Make sure there is no issue with the type of trees. Some developments restrict what you can plant.
