Sounds like you got the wrong person on the "customer service" line.
Since I've been spec'ing this stuff for almost 15yrs- I'll give a little rundown. TWP is solvent/oil based. It's designed to be a penetrating stain/sealer. So, if your applying it to a surface that could potentially be 120+ degrees hot- what do you think will happen?
You want to apply it as early in the day as possible- just after any dew has dissipated. The past 3 days here in GA would have been ideal; cool mornings, low humidity. Having a somewhat cool surface will allow the product to penetrate. And, reconsider the sprayer-
Looks like there's a 10% chance of rain here Saturday. Normally 10% means nothing but you never know. Would I be ok with putting a tarp or some plastic over the deck Saturday just in case?
Or, since I'm anxious to do this, would covering it with a tarp all day Saturday keep the wood at a low enough temp to begin Saturday evening? I know it would still be hot air but it would keep the direct sunlight off it it. Just a thought.
I wouldn't let some anxiety ruin a project. Not comfortable with the weather, wait a day or two. Besides, The northern half of the state is quickly heading for drought status.
Not anxiety at all. I've just done so much to prep for this I don't want a little 2 minute shower to get in the way. And since morning time is the best then it would have to wait until the next weekend.
So, again, would throwing a tarp over the deck cause any issues?
Not if you use it as a canopy.
If you lay it out over the deck- it may hold some moisture in. So, to be on the safe side I'd probably take it off the night before you start.
