I've been looking for an accent chair for MONTHS. Nothing particularly unique or special, but used leather or upholstered chairs are usually in bad shape, and the cost of re-upholstering doesn't make sense for our needs.

I've been looking for a few modern-ish, lighter colored Bedroom pieces, used and new (not into antiques, four poster beds, Olde American styling, etc). Used is mostly old styles or dark colors. New trends towards grey or crappy versions of a weathered look (read: it looks damaged).
Sometimes you just have to be patient and/or lucky. I have been wanting a right-arm leather chaise to take the place of the Eastlake settee in my bedroom. Lo and behold, one came up for auction locally three weeks ago and I got it at a decent price. It's a button tufted classic Chesterfield style with nailhead trim in burgundy leather and in perfect condition. I had previewed it at the auction house and it was like sitting in a cushy glove. The settee is now on my back porch about to go on Facebook Marketplace.

I was just in Hilton Head yesterday, browsing through the many consignment stores there. Anyone who lives near a resort or vacation condo area should definitely give these stores a try. As these places get bought and sold, the buyers sell off the furniture. You could get beautiful, like new, furniture and household goods for less money.

Are you willing to paint or otherwise refinish darker wood furniture a lighter color to get what you want? We've done that in the past and found it to be rewarding as well as thrifty.

I am having trouble replacing furniture lost in a fire. My bedroom group was brown Henredon. Used pieces are still available but often thousands of miles away with no delivery available, though I may have found a source.

I lost built in bookshelves, too, some of which I have replaced with used brown Ethan Allen pieces!
