Hello everybody,
we (myself, wife, baby and dog) are ready to relocate very soon to Houston and need your kind advice. I am in the IT industry and have currently started to search for jobs online, in vain still though. I suppose it's just easier to move to desired location and then search again, what do you think? Speaking of that, how likely is for a landlord to rent an apartment to somebody without a job yet, but with excellent credit record, references, and decent amount of $ ?
We visited Houston last year and have narrowed down a few neighborhoods to live in, namely: Kingwood, maybe The Woodlands (I know, too far north), and Sugar Land. Now, please tell me how Houston has changed crimewise with the Lousianna refugees, how is the employment market for IT industry (networking, tech support...), and overall is real estate market still going up?
We know it's humid and there are flood advisories but I guess we can't have paradise and we will take our chances. Also please advise on property taxes and how often they go up?
Thank you all

Many of the hospitals and energy companies have jobs in the IT dept. What kinds of companies have you been working for?

Just avoid the apartment complexes in southwest Houston, along Beltway 8. That's where many hurricane evacuees were housed and crime has gone up recently.
