Has anyone been to any of the last year’s BBQ fests? I know a lot of these food festivals are mediocre or outright scams but this one seems legit from what I’ve seen. Anyone that has been have any info? Is it worth going to? Since it’s this coming weekend, thought i might check it out. Kind of oddly times though as it coincides with Final Four.

I went a while ago when it was at NRG (2014 maybe?), so it may have changed since then, but I had a good time. Take a look at the line-up - I'd say if you've already tried >50% of the BBQ vendors, it's probably not worth it. The real reason to go to the fest is to sample BBQ from joints that you wouldn't normally try (e.g. located long drive away, vendor is just starting up, etc). Like any festival the earlier you get there, the less crowded it will be. Don't make my mistake of eating beforehand because you will fill up quickly, or at least I did.
