From what I understand, the Neils Esperson Building used to have an observation deck in the cupola near the top from when the building opened in 1927 until about 1963, around the time a higher observation deck opened at the Humble Building. However, I have not been able to find any pictures of the observation deck, the view from there or the exact year that the Esperson Building observation deck closed to the public. So, does anyone here have any pictures of the view from the Esperson Building observation deck, the deck itself, or what year the observation deck closed.

No. The Gulf Building and the Esperson Building are completely different.

I found this reference on waymarking.com

>>> . The Gulf Building, the tallest building in Houston for 34 years, contained an observation deck. The observation deck was replaced with a deck on the international-style Exxon Building, erected in 1963.<<<

Everything I read indicates the Esperson cupola had a view but that it was Gulf that had the observation deck that closed in 1963.

I was only 8 in 1963 so if you have more info on this than what I unearthed I am all ears

From what I have been able to find, the Gulf Building and Esperson Building both had their own observation decks open to the public until the Humble Building observation deck opened in 1963.
