Hi,
We are an Indian Family and are moving from Asia to Houston in Mid May 2023. I will be working in Daikin, Texas Technology Park. I have an autistic son ( 13 years old) and looking for rcommendations for school districts with support for autistic children (Public schools).

I understand Sugar land, Katy have good autism support schools based on my initial research. I would like to understand more and also whether it would be practical to commute from these places to Daikin on a daily basis if you are not driving initially.

Also, does waller have good public schools with autism support ?

Many thanks for the inputs and support.

Best Regards

Daikin is literally in the middle of nowhere. Sugar Land is too far to commute, as it's 45 miles one way. Katy is closer, but still a 40 minute drive. Here is the location of the Daikin facility https://www.google.com/maps/place/Da...g%2F11b7xw6gjf

There is no public transport there. If driving is an issue, you should look at Waller, the nearest town. The good news is that if you are a cricket fan or player, the large cricket complex is not far away, located here https://www.google.com/maps/place/Da...g%2F11b7xw6gjf

Good luck!

As others have said, Sugar Land is too far to commute. Katy or Cypress are your best options, of the two, Katy is slightly better for Special Education.

If I worked there, I'd live in Bridgeland, but not sure how good the schools there are for autism.

Is this more high functioning / asperger?

Thanks for the reply @Htown2013. I will explore the option of Bridgeland. He is 13 years and autistic.

No, I am from Sugar Land , not tuned into Katy. You might want to make contact with the ARC which is a nonprofit that helps families with children who have disabilities. They can provide advice about schools, and how to deal with the school systems. Often the relationship with the school system becomes adversarial, and you need someone on your side.
