We returned after a week away and our neighbor pointed out that a critter of some sort has been burrowing around our house. She thinks it is an armadillo. This is new to me. Does anyone have a suggestion about how to discourage this creature from doing this?

Mothballs help and also get some steel wool and put it in the hole about an inch below the surface when you fill it in. The ones bugging me just kept coming back and redigging the hole until I used the steel wool.

We use a cage trap and then release them in the woods.

Do you have a pier and beam foundation he is getting underneath?

Blood Meal (fertilizer for pansies, etc) works great on Armadillos...they hate the smell...We had huge problems them when living in La. and this is what we used. Won't hurt your animals and it's great for your plants!

Default Would that be Los Angeles, or Louisiana?

I heard people in Louisiana eat any/and everything... when you go to the zoo in New Orleans, the placards on the post don't describe the animal, they give a recipe! Ba-da-bing!

You didn't mention. Did the critter burrow a hole, like he could still be in there? Or did he just dig here and there starting holes but not deep enough to hide til dark?
