My in-laws are in town and have offered to watch our son this Friday evening so that I could take my wife out for dinner. I was considering Charleston, but thought that Huntington might be a better option. In Morgantown (where I am from), there is a nice restaurant / cigar bar that we like. I am sure that Huntington has something similar, but am not aware of where that may be. Ideally, we’re looking for a place that caters to an adult / young professional crowd where we can have a drink and good food. We desire a “casual” evening…Definitely not looking for an undergraduate hang out or “bar food,” but we also aren’t looking for a place that would require me to wear a jacket. In Huntington, we've only eaten at BW3 and Savannah’s, so I think that we’re looking for something in between those extremes on this occasion. Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

There are a few different options that you might consider in Huntington. The 21 Club at the Frederick is a little more upscale but not as much as Savannah's. I've not eaten there yet myself but I've heard that it's good. I'd imagine you could walk in wearing Khaki's or jeans with a nice shirt and be just fine. It's located in the Frederick building on 4th.

Another option is Fat Patty's. It's located on 3rd ave across 20th St from the stadium. It's a more relaxed atmosphere but still has a bar and the food is great.

If you are looking more for a bar/hangout with food, then you might consider Hank's Wallstreet Tavern and Piano Bar or the Union Pub and Grille. I've never been to either of these but have heard most people like them and that they are more of an adult hangout. St. Mark's on 4th, right beside the Frederick, is also supposedly a good hangout as well.

It's not open yet but Huntington Prime might be a place for you to consider in the future as well.

Hope this helps.

I'd go with 21. The other two places mentioned (The Union and Fat Patty's) are usually full of Marshall students.

Pretty sure where ever you go in Huntington this Friday that you won't have to worry about too many MU students since they are off on break. And FTR, I've never felt that Fat Patty's was full of Marshall students any time I've been there. Being close to campus and the athletic facilties, sure there will be some but in the times I've been there they haven't been the majority. And my wife absolutely love that place if that helps any DOM.
