Can anyone recommend a thrift store/charity shop that picks up furniture donations in Madison and will actually come when they promise?

Bg: A relative was told that a sizable furniture donation would be picked up today between 12:30 and 3:00 p.m., and the driver would call when he was 30 minutes away. No one had called by 3:00 and the first two calls to the Madison thrift store weren't answered. Contact was finally made with a driver who sounded upset at having to come out. He showed up, an hour and a half late, with a nearly full truck and couldn't take most of the items. He said he couldn't return for the rest until Thursday night.

We'd like to make other arrangements before Thursday. Thanks.

I don't know about there but I live in the boonies of Danville and I called the Downtown Rescue Mission in Decatur (I think there's one in Hsv) and they came out and got my stuff exactly when they said they would. Goodwill told me they would not drive out here.

There's a Downtown Rescue Mission thrift store in Madison also. On Old Madison Pike.

Both the Downtown Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army have thrift stores in Madison and both are a good cause to donate to as the money raised from the stores goes to a great cause.

I have had very good luck with Purple Heart in Huntsville. They come out Harvest way every Tuesday. What I normally do is call them, then just make a pile in the driveway or on the porch. When I get home from work the pile is gone. They have left a few items one time with a note that it was stuff they don't take.

Thanks all. We ended up finding a home for the furniture. I'll suggest Purple Heart the next time a pick up is needed.
