From the painted lines, it is not an one-way road. So instead of widening the old road, they are building a new road? What will happen to the existing road once the new one is in use? Or we will have two Zierdt Road side-by-side?

That's the eventual northbound lanes. Once they build access points (particularly from Edgewater, the most difficult apparently), all traffic will switch over to the "new road". Then they'll rebuild the southbound lanes. I suspect the new northbound lanes will have dryrotted before it's ever used, given the pace of progress.

Once everything's finished, I suspect they'll put another wear layer of asphalt down that will cover up the existing painted lines.

We'll have self-driving, levitating vehicles before that road is completed.

Phase II was set to start in April of this year, then May of this year, then August of this year, now it's currently set for September of this year.

$20 says this gets pushed back to 2019 before the end of the summer. It'll be 2021 or 2022 before this project is complete...mean while we'll probably have finished the entire Memorial Parkway Overpass project & the I-565 to Town Madison interchange before Zierdt Road is completed.

Sounds like incompetent contracting.

Are they actually working on the interchange? I know they've built the bones of some of the approaches but haven't seen them actually doing any work for a long time.

Unless something changes due to the baseball stadium, it's not supposed to begin until some time in 2019. I would think it would be moved forward with Breland agreeing to cover the cost of the interchange now and the team planning to be here for the 2020 season if everything goes as planned.
