Hello, are there any places or bakers in Huntsville or Madison that make good German dessert? I need to find a German dessert to serve approx 25 people after a German dinner for our rehearsal dinner in November. Thanks!

Might check with Old Heidelberg restaurant. It's in the shopping with Phil Sandoval's, on University somewhat west of Research Park Blvd. I believe there's a German eatery in Madison as well. Would be worth a call to see if they do such things.

For authentic, you want Christine's German Bake Shop which is located South of the River on Brindley Mountain in Somerville.

It looks like quite a trek down to her place and back. Is it that much better than Old Heidelberg or Hildegard's to be worth the trip?

For what you require, I would say place an order with Christine's.

A lot of Europeans from Huntsville place regular orders with her. They visit and have coffee with pastries while there.

If the drive is too far for you, then I would go through Hildegard's next.

Depending on what you’re looking for you might try L’etoile. Their sorta focused on breakfast pastries, but do special orders, see link below. If you’re looking for November I’d call them soon as it says their special orders are booked through first week of October.

I’ve been there multiple times and is as European as it gets here in HSV.

Been living in HSV for 3 years. I've never tried any of this German restaurants here. Not yet. I might try Old Heidelberg some time, at least for its dessert.

We've not been there in years, but it was really good when we went last.

L'Etoile is the kind of business Huntsville needs to attract. High quality food, great service, they are a solid 5 star business if you look at their Google reviews.

Just one step below some of the best French bakeries in the country-California has some of the best ones- Bouchon Bakery in Yountsville and ONE65 Patisserie in San Francisco.

Not long ago we had six German Restaurants in town, but now we are down to only two.

IMHO, Hildegard's on Whitesburg is the better of the two.

Neon Lilly is a Russian restaurant that also offers some German dishes.

With the arrival of Fall, it is a nice time to make a pilgrimage over to Helen, GA and eat at the Bodensee Restaurant.
