And this makes NO sense to me. Are the people who were once fans of the Chargers in San Diego, still fans of them now in LA? I doubt it unless they are 'area' fans, like how so many out West are Raiders fans no matter what city they are in. Or Cowboys fans in Arkansas, Saints fans in Mississippi or Titans fans in Alabama/Kentucky. But they aren't the ones who come to the games.

I mean look at the Super Bowl last year. VERY few actual LA Rams fans there, mostly just celebrities talking about their personal gossip. And I know for a fact that the pulse in St. Louis is hatred toward the Rams.

Bottom line I just wish some of this was 'deeper' than what city will build you the best stadium. I really wouldn't be surprised if there were some undertones from the Titans. Maybe they hinted at moving? I mean they were once the Oilers so who knows. I cheer for the Titans because they were on TV in Alabama when I lived there, but I can't ever become a real fan due to things like that. I know the Saints most likely will never leave so I stick with them.

Good to know Nashville has no other problems that they could spend $500 million on, other than subsidized construction for a facility used 8-9 weeks a year for a multi, multi billion dollar industry controlled by dozens of billionaires.

The same can be said for any city that has an NFL team, or any college that has a football team. College teams generally have 7 home games, sometime 6, each year. They sit idle for the rest of they year save for an occasional concert.

I saw this thread and had to jump in. Here in Jacksonville we are approaching the same topic. The owner of the Jaguars is pushing for a new stadium. The taxpayers have already fooy the bill for millions of dollars in renovations at the request of the owner, we have a dog park, two swimming pools, the largest video board in the NFL and now he wants the city to foot half the bill for major stadium improvements. The city is currently footing half the bill for a new practice field and new state of the art practice facility.

The city continues to cater to the team and if anyone has been downtown Jacksonville it is an urban dead zone which the city could care less about.

I would rather see the city spending their tax dollars on seed money for small business!

Whatever happened to the rumor that the Jaguars might move to London?

My money is on the Jags moving to Orlando in the next 5-7 years.

The point is the NFL is a business controlled by billionaires and getting ready for another multibillion dollar TV contract. They can fund their own stadiums, cities do not need to subsidize this insanity to the tune of $100s of millions of dollars. For example, The city of Saint Louis still owed $200 Million on a stadium with no tenant for years after the Rams left for LA. While I’m disappointed the Chargers left San Diego, I applaud the city for saying no to this racket.

And to your second point, very, very few colleges if any, have a $500m to $1 Billion stadium. And cities are almost never on the hook for them.

That video is horrible on so many levels, and the 3 seconds (combined) on the GCI video.
