I drove by the Train Dining Car sitting off Hwy 53 and noticed that a building has recently been attached to it.

That Dining Car has been sitting there for years and I was told it used to be a part of the old Twickenham Station Restaurant.

Maybe someone is turning into a new restaurant?

I do remember eating in that car back when it was next to the VBCC it was a "nice" (and expensive) place to eat. Wow, that was probably 45 years ago!

Time flies, doesn't it? I remember when it was there as well.

I have been living in Huntsville since 1979 (45 years) but don't remember seeing that. Did I miss something or was it more than 45 years?

I don't remember ever seeing the Train Car on Hwy 53. Where is it exactly?

On Hwy 53, heading out of Huntsville, the train car is on the right, just after Burwell Road waste, 5648 Hwy 53.

Also, the rail car is on the opposite side of road as all the new apartment buildings being built, just north of the Burwell rd and Hwy 53 intersection. Which is also where the fateful helicopter crashed in the median last year.

Well, I can't say for sure when it closed - It was called Twickenham Station, and they had great food! It was the place to go when you really wanted to impress your date. I took my wife there in May of 1980 after watching her sisters graduate from high school... so it closed after that. My wife remembers eating in the RR car and hated their wild rice. I had eaten there only once other time, before I met my wife, and that would have been the late 70s.
