In preparation for mucho mulching, I've been mulling over my options.

Considering that I have some seriously out-of-zone shrubs planted as well as some new Alabama appropriate green things, I need to take additional measures to promote the possibility of them surviving the next winter (this past one saw them all suffer potted in a freezing garage...with varying results.)

Suggestions?

Many thanks!
Trish

Wheat straw is pretty commonly available. Call the co-op or feed stores and ask who has it available at a good price. I know Griggs, northwest of Athens sells it, but there should be places closer to you.

Thank you! Wasn't sure if I'd score straw or hay at a feed store...reading it has to be proper straw to avoid the dreaded weed seeds.
Will check this location out.
