Are real Estate taxes lower in Decatur or Madison. Also which is the best place to live?

Taxes are similar in either place. Property taxes are low in Alabama. Madison has more amenities (shopping, airport, closer to Redstone/Cummings Research Park/Marshall for work) but higher homes prices. Resale of a home later will likely be faster in Madison.

Decatur houses that are reasonably priced do not stay on the market very long! My friends who work in Huntsville and live in Decatur here tell me that it takes them the same time - or less - to drive from work to Decatur than to some areas of Huntsville. Please come look for yourself! There are advantages and disadvantages for both cities.

choose Madison
Madison has better schools and is a much nicer area. Decatur doesn't have much to offer (except of course Big Bob Gibson!!!).
