The president finally wake up after seeing poll numbers for months ?

President Biden told reporters Friday that the US-Mexico border is not secure — contradicting Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas — after endorsing “massive changes” in immigration policy.

“No, it’s not,” Biden said when asked whether the frontier was secure following remarks to a bipartisan group of mayors in the White House East Room.

I believe we need significant policy changes at the border, including changes in our asylum system to ensure that we have the authorities we need to control the border. I’m ready to act,” the president said.

I, for one, don't believe Biden. What he is proposing is akin to closing the barn door after the horses escaped (to coin an old saying).

Even if he is serious, it's too little and too late.

I agree with you. I think it will be all talk and no action because it's an election year. Remember back in 1986 when Reagan passed that amnesty and the Democrats promised to secure the border? Well that didn't happen and now we have millions more here illegally or making bogus asylum claims to get into our country.

I don't think that Biden nor the Democrats want to deport those here illegally already so we're still in a fix if he is re-elected. That's just as important to do as stopping more from getting into our country.

What’s funny is that he thinks we will all believe him when he says the reason the border isn’t secure is because he “needs money” to close it.

Maybe he could ask Zelensky for the money?

At this stage the only conclusion is that he's so demented and out of it, that he's actually able to tell the truth.

He created this problem before he was even elected.

He might be hoping some of those 8 million vote for him.

When these politicians say "changes to the asylum system", that's code for calling it legal immigration instead of the invasion that it is. They are also intent on giving amnesty to many of those already here, especially the tens of millions that came in prior to the Biden administration. Even some Republicans like Lindsey Graham are in favor of amnesty, although I've heard him speak out both sides of his mouth on the issue.

Any deal that includes amnesty should be voted down, and my elected Congresswoman (Kaptur) & Senators (Vance & Sherrod 'Scruffy' Brown) will be hearing from me, not that it'll do any good, it never has in the past on any issue I've contacted them on. It will be the first time I contact Vance, but in the past I contacted Portman several times before he left office. It never did any good.

We really need a viable new third party, if nothing else it'll scare the bejesus out our current politicians from the two ruling parties and hopefully force them to change their ways.
