Kid-friendly neighborhoods in Bloomington? (renting, find a job, buying)

My husband and I are relocating to Bloomington soon. We used to go to college there (back in the day), but we didn't explore much outside of campus and its surroundings at the time. Now we have two little kids (toddler and preschooler), and would love advice on some neighborhoods that are very kid-friendly. I love the idea of neighbors playing outside together, nearby playgrounds, etc.


For now, we don't need to commute, as we both work from home. In a year or so, I suspect I will job search, and if I'm lucky enough to find a job, it would likely be in downtown Bloomington, as I'm in the legal field.

Really depends on your budget and if your are buying or renting.

That said, while we have loved raising our kids in the Bloomington area, I've always thought that there are a lack of neighborhood parks. I can think of 5 and one of those is downtown--not really a neighborhood park.
