Manhattan grocery advertises food Jews can't eat under their dietary laws

NEW YORK - A luxury grocery store in Manhattan made a food faux pas, advertising hams as "Delicious for Chanukah."

Chanukah - an alternate spelling for Hanukkah - is the eight-day Jewish holiday that began Tuesday evening, and hams, as well as pork and other products from pigs, can't be eaten under Jewish dietary laws.

That's hilarious! Finally! A kosher pig!
And yup Pork is quite popular in Israel but only among the population that does not observe the laws of kashrut. It is still completely forbidden by Jewish law.

And by Muslim law (as Camaro sorta mentioned), which makes up a large part of Israel's population... they also have plenty of Christians, Atheists & secular/Reform Jews, so I guess there's some market for pork. My old Rabbi actually LOVED bacon, and got away with eating it since we're Reform Jews. I personally never touch the stuff, but do mix milk & meat fairly often - can't resist a good cheeseburger.
