Some long decades ago, a building was built in downtown Kansas City with the plan that teachers live there after their retirement. The building was not very attractive from the outside and, as I remember, not many chose to live there. What happened to that building? Is it still there? Used for something else?

Yes, only about half of that retirement community was built and it still stands today in the northeast loop of Downtown. Today those buildings have been turned into high-dollar condos, selling for $200,000+. Today the buildings are The Manhattan, The View, and The Metropolitan.

(BTW, about 20 years ago I lived at the Manhattan for about 3 or 4 years. I actually enjoyed it, especially the rooftop glassed-in pool that overlooked downtown. I loved to go up there during lightning storms and snow storms. )

When I lived there they had a scale model of the whole proposed development along with info, explaining that it was to be a teachers retirement community. Probably only about 30% of it was built.

In other words it is no longer a teachers' retirement center. Not for us ordinary mortals anyway. Times keep changing. Thank you. Hazel
