Kansas City has a 2020 population of 508,090. However about roughly only 65% of the city limits are within Jackson County, the rest are in Clay, Platte and Cass counties. Exactly how much of that population lives in the Jackson County side alone? I can't seem to find out on the internet, so I'm wondering if anyone here knew. The reason I'm curious is due to research I'm doing on the region.

Well… this is a tough question. But I did a little digging online, and I have an estimate to propose: From what I see, all (or close to all) Kansas City residents living in Jackson County fall under Washington Township (population 74,515 in 2010) or Kaw Township (pop. 182,719). Thus, the KC portion of Jackson (in 2010) probably contained roughly 258,000 persons. The other 16 incorporated places in Jackson currently contain a total of 368,200 persons. The remaining 90,000 #- of course live in unincorporated areas of Jackson. That’s my take.
