This murderer will be locked up before the the burial of Deputy Greg McCowan.

My wife and I will be among the mourners/supporters who will be at the side of the road for the procession from Sevierville Baptist Church on the Alcoa Highway to the burial site in Maryville.

The emotional outpouring of community support shown to our local law enforcement makes this Blount County resident proud.

"Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr., the man accused of killing a Blount County deputy and injuring another, was captured Feb. 13 in Knoxville, the Blount County Sheriff's Office announced.

"Kenneth Wayne DeHart was taken into custody a short time ago in Knoxville!" said Sheriff James Berrong in a Facebook post on the agency's page. "Now the judicial process will take place in the court system. Thanks to all of our law enforcement partners and our community...."

"DeHart was arrested in the Park City neighborhood of Knoxville around 3 p.m. Police in tactical gear surrounded a home near the corner of Linden Avenue and North Harrison Street.

Residents at the nearby Regency Inn told Knox News they heard loud banging that sounded like gunshots nearby and were told to go inside by police.

The TBI also posted about the capture on X, formerly known as Twitter: "We are happy to pass along that #TNMostWanted fugitive Kenneth DeHart is in custody!"

My guess is someone ratted or the law had signal intelligence triangulating him.

Obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer. It's sad he sucked his woman, and by default, his whole family, into the fallout of this crime spree.

According to the Nashville news there was either an 80K or 100K reward for information leading to his arrest. Thats a whole bunch of money for “friends” to not keep quiet.

I think he was also a convicted felon so must have had a troubled history - maybe so troubled that even his blood kin liked the sound of that much money.

With that much money on the table, I was pretty sure they would get him, in short order

According to the Police there was no tip off. Law enforcement was able to hunt him down using cell phone technology.

I like the fact that the Blount DA isn't being soft on the bound amounts.
