Water is thru either Sevier or Knox county utility companies. No sewer that I'm aware of. No police department, we're under Sevier County.

Default Seymour Information

I have not heard much on the city of Seymour. That is one of the towns we are considering.. along with Maryville in that area. We are retired, no kids, no pets and conservative! I don't need to live close to schools, "down town" and would like maybe 1/2 acre.

I am looking for info such as.. prices for housing (purchase) utilities food, car insurance and quality of living.. meaning.. how much crime, how safe is the area etc.

What about what is in the area as far as stores, hospitals and what is the driving time to Knoxville

Any one have any info you care to share?

I suspect you will like Maryville, and maybe even Lenoir City / Loudon areas.

Seymour is divided between Blount and Sevier counties. We looked there when we moved 4 years ago but preferred Maryville. We were in the same position as you since we moved here after retiring.

We really enjoy Maryville. It has a wonderful library, good coffee shop, and nice people. We stay active hiking in the park, walking on greenways, kayaking, and playing pickleball. There is a decent selection for shopping but we do head into West Knoxville or Farragut for medical services and more in-depth shopping.

Homes here are selling quickly. Many people recommend that you move into rental housing for a while do you can look around and decide where you want to live.

Best of luck with your search!

We are almost surely moving to TN, Sevierville area, next spring.2021. Seymore seems like they may have nice homes in our price range as do other towns. Our delima may be finding temporary housing, maybe 3 month lease while we are looking. We'll start looking as soon as we have an offer on our house in IL. But hoping to be able to just be there as soon as something becomes available as we see how quickly they go. Any suggestions on short term leases? Hubby thinks maybe if we look to rent away from Sev, Gat, and PF area, we may have better luck.
