What and where is the quickest way to get my passport renewed?

In LA you can go wait at the passport office in the morning and get the paperwork rolling that very day, but I don't think there is a passport office here in town.

Do the local post offices process passports? If so how long does that take? Any other alternatives? Does anyone have experience with passport expediters?

Go to the Post Office. We were really well taken care of at the one on Tenaya. You still have to mail it in but you can do all that right on the spot, then we got them back in no time.

It can be done same day in LA. No way to do that here. If in a big hurry go to LA. Note that the same day case worked when the guy had a ticket in hand for a plane leaving in two hours.

The link says:

The processing time for a passport is currently six weeks. Expedited service is taking between two and three weeks.

Any estimates on the wait through the post office (regular or expedited)?

I was considering this - I got a passport card a few years ago in a couple of days but it is only good for North America and the Caribbean.

Unfortunately, although I visit LA frequently, I work in the sports betting industry and I don't think I am going to have a day off (much less a full weekend) until after March Madness.

Since it has to go to Washington D.C. for whatever they do with it, I don't see how anyone got a passport the same day in Los Angeles.

Nope. Many passport operations can execute locally.

I visited this site yesterday but also found lots of bad reviews online. Hard to tell if it is a pseudo scam (negligible time difference) or not.

that's why I came here looking for real life local experiences...
