What we have here is a case of mis-communication. I guess I should have said that Vegas will run out of water for further development. And it ain't 4025.

Las Vegas has sufficient water for another million or close to it with some increased conservation.

I really don't know where this view that Las Vegas is about out comes from. It is not using its full Colorado River allocation and can pump significantly more from the local aquifer. If, as it should, it builds the northern pipeline that will llikely provide for yet another quarter million or more.

Southern CA has a worse problem though CA can solve the problem when it chooses by moving water from the agricultural sector.

Anyway, since the population of Nevada is projected to grow by only 500,000 over the next 20 years, the water supply issue appears not be a limiting factor for Las Vegas Valley for some time.

LV needs to diversify it's home base by maybe bringing in professional sports Teams or something because several Vegas style casinos are going to be popping up all cross the US in the next few years

As Foxwood and Atlantic City demonstrate you cannot duplicate Las Vegas with a single or even small set of casinos. You would need something that competes with the strip. That might be doable in NYC or Orlando but probably not anywhere else.

I would think sports is not really much of an issue. I do think though that a world class domed stadium would be an item that Las Vegas should acquire to go with the rest of the tourist assets.

Wow. I did not realize anyone still read Wired. Let's close ALL the lanes and reduce congestion to zero.

That study is really intracity...not intercity. And the road becoming re-congested would be fine for Las Vegas..

They already have popped. That really had no negative effect on Vegas. I don't see too much growth in localities opening up gaming going forward. I thing the ones that want it have it already.
