Hi, there. I recently moved to Vegas and need opinions from you guys.

I live in Spring Valley and am considering working at McCarran Airport. But the problem is, I don't have my own car now, so I need to commute there by taking 202 and 108 buses(or 104 and 109) until I save up the money for a new car. Google map says it takes only 45 minutes if I take 202 and 108 but I noticed that sometimes buses don't come on time here. Do you think it gonna be hard to commute to the airport by bus everyday?

Does anybody happen to work at McCarran and commute by bus? Do you have any problem? Do the buses come frequently? If it's so hard to catch the buses, I might find a job at the strip.

I'm new in town and don't have any friends here yet. So any opinions will be greatly appreciated!

You can probably take all the stress out of the situation by taking an earlier bus, you might get to work a little early, but you won't have to worry about being late. I've found when I used to take public transportation that buses for the most part are on time, but you never know when traffic will be bad or a bus breaks down. I suggest you check the schedules to see how frequent the buses run.

There are always quite a few workers (TSA, flight attendants, food service, ground service, etc.) on the buses going to and from the airport so you wouldnt be alone.

you can, get a CHEAP car - for under $500 - the ride to McCarren is 15 mins by car, or maybe see if anyone of your co workers live in the same area, and car pool!

E komo mai to Vegas!

Thanks for your advice! Yeah, I am considering leaving home 90 minutes to 2 hours before I start my shift. Getting to work earlier is fine cuz I have to pass security check and sometimes you have to wait so long. I noticed that 202 bus runs every 15 or 20 minutes, but 108 bus only runs every 30 minutes! so I definitely need extra time in case I miss the both of 202 and 108

That's great to know! Do you work at airport? I was kinda scared of riding the buses to/from airport alone cuz I might ride early in the morning or late at night. Thanks for the info!

Thank you for the info! I have been waiting for the opinion from current airport workers!

I'm so glad to know we live in same area and not that hard to commute to airport. If I take 202 and 108 buses, should take 45 minutes ish to get there according to Google map. Do you think leaving home 90 minutes to 2 hours before would be enough in case I miss the both of 202 and 108 buses? I'm scared of missing 108 bus since it runs only every 30 minutes

Wait, are you a former Hawaii resident too? I used to live in Oahu Island before. I commuted by 57 bus which runs only every hour and sometimes comes 10 minutes earlier or 20 minutes late lol So I always arrived to work 40 minutes before my shift starts because I would be 15 minutes late if I take next one. The best part of living in Vegas is here are so many Hawaiians and have no problem finding fine Hawaiian food.

I could drive a car, but I have a fear of driving and need to get driving lessons first lol I'm kinda scared of driving here cuz everyone drives really rough. But I have never heard of a car with decent quality you could buy for under $500. I assume decent quality cars cost at least $3000

Mahalo, brother

Nope, I'm not a former hawaii resident, I read your other posts, and thought you would smile at that.

You can get a TSA/PRECHECK pass, https://www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck or a clearcard https://www.clearme.com/
- and you can zip through security, also ask your supervisor
I am sure they have some deal with TSA to get you thru quicker then passengers

It seems ridiculous to spend 90 mins traveling for a 15 minute trip, what part of Spring valley are you in?

There are some awesome Hawaii'an places downtown near Main Street station, we even have a Lapperts!
