stations such as santa fe station are casinos. They're owned by station casinos. They own quite a few casinos in Las Vegas and they specialize in the local market.

I also have some questions to some of the more experienced Vegas people.

How is the job market? I am interested in the casino business and particularly marketing. I am planning on moving to Vegas after I graduate college here. I study International Business and Management. It is a very broad education and covers finance, management, marketing etc. I will be specializing in marketing. I hear a lot about the casino job market but it is always about the unschooled or perhaps lower jobs. I have heard that the market is pretty good for educated workers. Is this true?

Yes - It is a very robust job market. Note that beginning positions are biased against non-locals. Though with an MBA it is just like anywhere else. With a BA and a marketing major you will have little trouble finding lots of employment.

Vegas has a good job market when comes to working in advertising or marketing. I worked in that field there for several years (actually worked for some big name companies in those departments). The pay is good too for that field there. You shouldn't have a problem finding a good job in marketing. All the casinos hire people to work in the marketing departments, as do advertising agencies, the shows, etc.

Hey there!

I actually went to college in Wilmington, NC and I lived in Las Vegas for a bit after college (and eventually plan on moving back). So, I understand your fears about moving to a "big city."

Las Vegas a great city. Yes, it is expensive, but you get used to it and learn to shop around! Most of my friends thought I was living in a casino or something, but there is plenty to do around the area. As far as I've heard, most of the schools are great, and it sounds like you've gotten some good feedback about that. Yes, most communities are gated (I actually used to live in one and I loved it!) but it's only for the safety of the kids in the neighborhood. Just because it's gated doesn't mean that there's crime nearby. It's actually normally quite the opposite. Of course there's going to be crime in every major city, because it's a MAJOR city.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know! I'm fairly young also (mid-20s) so I can probably help you with more of the "social" and scholastic concerns.

Good luck!
